Such a lovely piece! I used to have a very similar morning routine that I fell off of a bit recently so I relate to so much of what you’ve written. I love your call to presence, it makes the journey back to our routines and rituals such a beautiful and joyful process! Thanks for sharing!

I'm still trying to establish a routine since leaving my corporate job.

I also struggle defeating thoughts if I don't tackle my "should-list". I'm a work in progress when it comes to routines. 😄

Oh Mika, aren't we all? 💛💛💛 Thank you for making time to read and share your relationship with routine. I had a corporate job too before I started my business. The most simple and effective time of my life in terms of rituals and routines. I always knew there were dedicated hours of work and I will come home by 5:30 pm and the whole evening is mine. Now, nothing is known. Each day is a new set of events and I'm also learning to go with the flow 🧡

I feel you Mo!!

I have been a planner all my life and like you said, it makes me productive but it leaves no room for flexibility in my life sometimes. I used to feel guilty when things didnt go my way but then I realised how this whole concept is flawed in itself. I do it for my peace and I end up feeling rushed. The changes in my mindset that followed post this realisation have been incredible. Thanks for this lovely post❤️

Most welcome 🤗 you've summed it up pretty bang on! Routine should aid in peace and growth, not leave us sorrowful and breathless 🧡💖

Great self-awareness and beautiful routine!

As a person who puts a lot of effort intk maintaining routines, I admire your commitment!

But it is nice to have Space in your day and in oneself to bring balance and, as you mentioned, kindness.

May we all be kinder to ourselves 🤎

Hi, Mo. Thank you so much for another wonderful piece. My life is in the midst of a lot of transitions right now. Right now my wife and I are scrambling to prepare for my daughter’s birthday party. We are cooking for everyone because we refuse to just serve cheap pizza. But planning the whole thing takes its toll on us. We won’t be sleeping much tonight. But you know what? I try to remember to go with the flow. Life throws things at us, and I should be so lucky that this is a joyous event, not a tragic one. Those happen too. Whatever happens, I try to remember to be more like water. Flow with life and around it. Don’t try to go against it even when it disrupts my norm. I feel less stress that way. This is a very recent idea for me, but so far I really like it. Stay awesome, keep learning, and go easy on yourself. You are the whole universe. You are what’s happening to your body and mind. It’s OK to be surprised. Live from love! I know you do already!

Hello Mike! Thank you for your kind words. It sounds like you have a lot on your plate right now, but your perspective is truly inspiring. Transition times can be tough, but it’s great to hear you’re focusing on the joy and trying to go with the flow. I love the idea of being like water and adapting to whatever comes our way. It’s something I try to remind myself of too.

Good luck with the birthday party preparations—I’m sure your daughter will have an amazing day with all the effort and love you’re putting into it. My best wishes to her!! Remember to take a moment for yourself amidst the chaos. And thank you for the encouragement and positive vibes. They mean a lot.

Stay awesome and keep flowing! 🧡

Lovely post, Mo! I always love the ones that make me think! Some of my thoughts after reading:

The schedule and routines of one's day are often very necessary...a time management skill to be learned for a variety of situations and structure just feels good. The retreating to a place of being still and silent in prayer is also very necessary to keeping the mind from spinning its circles and keep our hearts in steady beat. The ability to veer off course and taste the random, unrehearsed, spontaneity of living is also a necessary dessert to treat ourselves. It is very easy to get "stuck" in any one of these and miss out on so much the others had to offer. (Been guilty of doing that over the years!) The real challenge is to find balance among them all—to sneak in a surprise juggling performance with all of these, one that truly WOWs ourselves! One that makes us lay our head down at the end of the day completely satisfied that our existence was anything but wasted! Still...if all I did all day long was read a beautiful book....or sit with my grandmother snapping beans, shucking corn, and listening to her stories, or I went to work, caught in the strict routine of performance....Well! With each I find a place to see its priceless worth and there is ALWAYS glory in that! Oh, and we shouldn't be so hard on ourselves.....Yes! "Maybe the real project is learning to be kinder to myself. Finding joy in the unexpected?" Right ON! My grandfather, at 95, had this to say, "It all went by so fast! Whatever comes your way....Remember, as best you can, do it ALL!" Be blessed ~W

Warmth to my heart, is your reply! Thank you, Mo! Yes, what a meeting and wonderful conversation we could have! Life is such a multifarious experience which makes for delightful, luminous discussion; a deep dive into the essence of living is soul moving! Sadly, not many folks these days wish to take that conversational plunge! Even if, we never meet at a physical table, surely we can have some wonderful dialogue here! I look forward to it! Cheers to your week ahead! Many blessings! ~Wendy

So apparently your love for flowers in the hair comes from your grandmother.

Well, yes i too regret. And that too a lot. When i forget doing even a single task from my daily routine, i regret about it regularly before i sleep. Infact idk it just happens. If i plan to code for some 6 hours a day, and i manage only to do like 4, i feel like uhhh a wasted day. I regret a lot. I'm currently having my 2.5 month summer break, and even though i tried my best to utilise the days, at almost the end of the break, idk why i feel of wasting it. You know I've realised, idk if I'm correct, we should not put a bar to the hours we work, somedays you work like 12 hours and somedays you just don't. And i think its somehow okay. We need break. Infact, i don't really have a balanced daily routine as you do.

So happy to read your daily routine, really impressed , exercising, jalneti, that's commendable. To me following yoga even for a week feels like an achievement.❤️❤️❤️

I FEEL YOU!

first off, wow girl you code! That's epiccccc! Best I can do is a template Shopify website where everything is already done for me hahaha! Mad respect for the skill you have!

You're right, even my day job is pretty similar, some days we work round the clock and others there's very little work :)

I am sending you virtual hugs because we all need to chill sometimes ❤️❤️ a friend of mine recently reminded me to enjoy everything I do to the fullest even if that's all I do all day! I'm trying to live by that

This one’s so beautiful and I loved what u wrote at end of- learn to be kinder to oneself

The problem is we are all stuck between ‘are we too lazy and lenient and can’t even be disciplined and manage our life’s ‘ and ‘ are we doing it too much, everything on schedule, planned and decided’ we never would know what’s right or lemme put it this way - what’s more right and whts less right … but with this discipline, this zest to do more and perfectly, we surely hv lost all the freedom and chances of doing things serendipitously…

BANG ON! I love what you said about "more right" or "less right!" Life isn't so black and white. It's got a little more or little less splash of all colors ❤️❤️
