Dream Big, Achieve, Now What Will You Do?
Weeds in sidewalks, sagely wisdom, & wild incomprehensible beauty
Dude, have you ever gone after a desire, been overly drunkenly consumed by it, and still felt like a deflated balloon? Yeah..what’s up with that?
We’re all out here running marathons for stuff we think we need. A new 9 to 5, a shiny gadget, a nod from the universe that says, "You’re doing alright."
We huff & puff towards a future we cannot imagine, believing it’ll fill some void, make us whole, or finally give us the permission to breathe.
We’re conditioned to believe that happiness is just one more accomplishment away. We hustle, grind, and push ourselves to the limit, thinking the next achievement will be the one that finally makes us feel ready. But when we get there, we often find that the satisfaction is fleeting. The glinting new toy loses its luster, the promotion doesn’t quite bring the fulfillment we expected, and praise from others feels hollow.
It’s like drinking salt water when you’re thirsty. No matter how much you consume, it never quenches your thirst.
It’s exhausting.
Like, trying to sprint in quicksand or run in a swimming pool kind of exhausting. The endless scroll through social media, the refreshing of email inboxes, the high-fives for achievements that don’t quite fill the hole we thought they would. Ever felt like you’re just checking off boxes and yet your soul is lounging on the couch in its PJs, unbothered and unimpressed? A crab washed ashore with slumped shoulders.
Maybe the answer isn’t in the next pat on the back. Maybe it’s in the oo-ey goo-ey space between your ribs. Yep, right in your chest.
What if it’s in the dirt under your fingernails from planting seeds in your life’s garden. You know, the garden that’s been overrun with weeds like “Doubt” and “Fear of Missing Out.”
Talk about weeds
Weeds don’t care about your plans or your perfect flower beds.
The pesky plants that crash your garden party. No matter how many times you pull them out, they come back, tougher and more defiant. They just show up, stubborn and scrappy, surviving where other plants can’t. It’s a bit like the nagging feelings of self-doubt and jealousy. They sneak into our minds, uninvited, overshadowing our best moments. Just like weeds, they thrive in the corners of our thoughts, persistent and annoying.
Weeds are survivors.
Even the things we don’t want have a place, even if it’s just to teach us something.
Maybe our inner ‘weeds’ are signals, telling us to pay attention, to dig deeper and find what’s really bothering us. What are we driven by?
They’re part of the garden, just like everything else. And sometimes, a weed can surprise you—showing up in a place you didn’t expect, bringing a bit of wild beauty to your carefully planned world.
When was the last time you tended to your own plot? We spend so much time looking for happiness out there, when the real action is right here, inside. Under our skin, under our pits, maybe even hiding behind our wobbly bits.

Schopenhauer argues that life is suffering, because we will always oscillate between desire and boredom. Your first section explores this well ... We must know what achievements cannot give us. There's wisdom in chasing things while at the same time being aware of their limitations.
