What if one's such a misfit in a foreign land that to be admired for what one owns is one's only shot at any recognition at all? What if the point of one's hoarding is not to match (or outmatch) one's needs, but is instead a means to distract oneself from one's constantly itchy hollow ache? Is it not better to live in a glass palace and flinch at every storm, than doing so in a shitty apartment that takes up 50% (or more) of one's income in rent?

Just yesterday, a girl rejected me on our second date because "(I) have a negative mindset" and that "(my) negativity might seep into (her)". If one must live a lonely life, why not do it in a lonely kingdom rather than inside of a lonely hut?

Hey, thanks for sharing this. It’s so honest, and i felt a lot of it. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wanting beauty or comfort or even recognition, especially if you’re feeling invisible or out of place. I get that. I’m sorry. People say stuff like that when they don’t know how to sit with someone else’s pain. & yeah, maybe a palace or a hut, lonely is lonely. But I think what you’re doing here, that’s you reaching out. and that’s not nothing. you’re not as alone as you think, okay?

I once collected all those Flower Fairy books,in modern reprint. But when I moved l let them go. Yes,I take joy in things like the yellow sun dandelions growing in the cracks in the kerbside along the street. ( Also visual evidence of the now rundown state of our public infrastructure after 30 or more years of political administration led cutbacks in paying for such "invisible" stuff). But as I like dandelions and I dont drive a car I don't care.

It is amazing how many books have been written about fairies, something dear to my heart. I always wondered whether there were really fairies at the bottom of the garden…

If you feel that 'sense' of them, something, there are. Even if they don't look the ones in Victorian pictures.
