I am in the middle of writing a story where the main character arrives at an antique store. Nostalgia and the things that evoke them. Now that is a never ending source of inspiration for a writer 💚

These things, they’re time machines, taking us back to moments we’ve never lived but somehow feel deeply connected to… and this is true … so my mum used to tell me how my nanaji was the first one to buy new technology in his days and how one day he got home a gramaphone (record player) and no one in there neighborhood had ever seen it for real… and how so many ppl use to come their house just to hear it playing…since then I hv always wanted to own a record player … coz someone I believe when I get it home .. I will get home a part of the time my mum was talking abt… and may be part of my nanaji.. isn’t that beautiful

That's so beautiful!! I think your nanaji was a cool tech guy! Also the person who exposed the community to culture ✨✨ you're like that too! Did you get a record player?

I remember Altoids, I just don't remember buying them! Aren't they mints? But I remember buying Hershey candy, vinyl records, using the old non-electric typewriter, an electric typewriter, Polaroid instant camera and other cameras! I loved taking photos when I was a teenager! I believe I still have all my old stuff upstairs, in a closet, I think! I wonder if they are worth anything, now? I enjoy your posts!

This reminds me of reading charlie and the chocolate factory. When i read it as a school kid, it felt so fascinating, infact everything about chocolates is fascinating. I also didn't know about altoid wallets you're talking about. Just googled. Vintage material literally. I wonder why i never had this trending at my times. I only remember the whiteboard or the calculator boxes from my school😂😭

Thank you so much for your comment! Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is such a magical read—anything related to chocolates always feels so fascinating, doesn't it? 😊

Altoid wallets were THE thing in school for us. It’s amazing how some trends come and go, and others stick around. Your memories of whiteboards and calculator boxes made me smile! We also had those "move the tiny silver mercury ball from one side to the other" game on top of the pencil boxes!

I really enjoyed the poem. Self-critique is often the harshest. Yet we must remember that we are forever a work in progress and perfection is a myth.

Also, it’s amazing how powerful branding can be. It can shape how an era is viewed and evoke nostalgia in those that were not alive to witness it. It goes to show how art lives forever.

Hey Harun, I'm so glad you enjoyed the poem! Self-critique can definitely be the toughest, but you're spot on—recognizing ourselves as works in progress and letting go of the idea of perfection is so important.

Absolutely, branding's power is incredible. It can define an era and create nostalgia even for those who didn’t experience it firsthand. It's amazing how art can transcend time and leave a lasting impact. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

What a fun essay. I've always loved old things as well. I have an old rotary phone on a table in my living room and an antique toy truck on a window sill in the kitchen!
