How to create things people love (even when you feel like trash)
5 favorite tips I use daily (more or less!)
I’ll begin by saying, you’re not everyone’s cup of tea/coffee/matcha. So not everyone is going to swoon over your work. I bet you already know this but many people know many things but they could feel the need to please even the barista at Starbucks who got the spelling of their name wrong by not correcting him/her.
That’s me, I’m people. & that’ll be a post you’ll read some other day.
But if you are feeling uninspired, overwhelmed & like everything you make belongs in the dumpster, you’re not alone. Here’s a hug & a blueprint to push through and create anyway.
1. start scared/show-up
You don’t need confidence to begin. You just need to start. The first draft? Probably awful. That’s okay. Masterpieces come from beginnings & the momentum you eventually gain. Perfection is boring—high five the wobble.
✨ write, paint, or create the worst thing you can imagine right now. then keep going.
2. focus on soul, not sparkle
Forget trying to make it “perfect” or “marketable.” Make it real. Imperfections are your fingerprint—let them shine. People connect with what feels human, not flawless. All that glitters ain’t gold blah blah.
✨ think of your quirkiest idea—the one you’re scared to share. that’s the one you should work on today.
3. make for joy, not approval
Create for the kid you were, not the critic in your head. If it lights you up, it’ll light up the right people too. Dance in mismatched socks, draw outside the lines, write a love letter to your favorite tree.
✨ make one thing today that’s just for you. a playlist? a silly doodle? a handwritten letter to your future self/a tree?
4. borrow beauty from the world
Creativity doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Look around: sunsets, laughter, the way your coffee swirls with cream. The world is a museum. Go steal a little inspiration.
✨ write down one thing you noticed today that felt good. use it as a starting point.
5. turn mistakes into glitter
Mistakes aren’t the end—they’re the beginning of something better. Smudged ink? Make it art. A wrong note? Turn it into a melody. Life is full of happy accidents.
✨ think about your last creative “oops.” how can you use it as a jumping-off point for something new?
The world doesn’t need polished perfect things—it needs you. Scrappy, scared, tired you. Go make your thing, and share it with the people who’ll love it. (I’m one of them!)

Subscribe: I usually write prose & stories inspired by nature & my family, but you can expect something like this once every 1-2 months depending on what I’ve learnt/decided to share.
Challenge: Post something you’ve made—no matter how imperfect—and tag me. Let’s celebrate your brilliance. Don’t know about the world, but I’m waiting. ✨
Nearly ending this post with: I’m telling you that funk is fertile ground
Some of my best posts—the ones that got the most love—came from times when I was in a creative funk. They performed better than all others and call it co-incidence once, but it's more about consistent practice. The right people will find you, you don't have to chase after them. you are a miraculous creative well of goodness and everything you desire is already on its way to you.

Speaking of inspiration, I poured my heart into creating something to help you reconnect with your creativity.
It’s no-nonsense and packed with value—pure, evergreen guidance on using nature as your muse. I skipped the fluff, didn’t pad it with unnecessary images, and focused on making it an indispensable tool. Everything I’ve learned about writing inspired by nature is in here, ready for you to use.

Writing for you is my heart’s work—and also how I fund my extremely ambitious TBR pile, my travel tickets, and the occasional yoga mat splurge.
Think of it as us virtually sharing a cup—me, you, and my dadi, who’s telling me to sit up straight as I type away on my keyboard.
"The world is a museum." You said it, Mo! This list of helpful creativity and self-empowerment tips was actually a peek into your own creative mind, Mohika, and it's quite beautiful!
Not correcting the barista - yep, that would be me too 😆 Lovely, wise words Mo 🙏
