Have you ever wondered where love comes from? It’s everywhere and nowhere.
It starts even before you’re born, in your mom's belly, where you’re warm and squishy, a curled up croissant. The first time you ever feel the sun on your skin. It’s in a butterfly’s first flight, delicate and hopeful. Soft fluttery tiny thing in this world.
Sometimes it’s in the way a stranger gives you a shy smile, or when you hold your sister’s hand really tight. She’s a map to home & doesn’t mind your sweaty palms. When you’re sitting with fam and they hold space for your wobbly mumjo jumbo feelings. That’s love too, holding you steady. And then—love’s even in things like peeling onions with someone! It makes your eyes all watery, but it’s the laughing between salt rimmed lips from tears that feels so good.
Love strums in songs. It’s in the koyals’ call. In nanu’s apple pie, pan aunty’s handknit scarves, & dadi’s incessant attempts to feed me another roti.
It’s in rainbows after storms. Love sneaks around corners. It comes from the times you were sure you’d fall apart but didn’t. Love is in that second chance, when someone says, "Hey, you can try again!” In the end, love is the glue holding us together. It’s in the way we see each other.
It’s in the way we try again, and again.
Hey you,
Happy Wednesday or Day if you’re reading this in the future. I hope you’re resting your heart and watering your soul. I am in the mood for love. No reason. No anniversary. Just me thinking about love.
I love life. I continue to wake up and be taken aback at what my eyes can see.
Have you seen those videos of people’s reactions after they come out of a dark room? The sheer shock and wonder on their faces! It’s like their eyes are seeing the world for the first time, every single time. That’s how I feel about love.
As if stepping into the light after a long stretch of darkness, realizing there’s so much more to see and feel.
Like, comment, and show love in any way you can. Your feedback helps me grow, and your engagement keeps this space vibrant and alive 🌟
